Does chiropractic hurt?
A chiropractic adjustment should never be painful. Unfortunately, many people will wait until they have pain to seek chiropractic care as an option. Chiropractors are trained to identify and treat the misaligned vertebrae without grabbing, pulling, twisting or other invasive procedures. The chiropractic technique is a gentle one.

Do I always have to come back?
The first step is to discover if chiropractic is even an option for your complaint or condition. After your initial exam and consultation, we will go over with you the “Report of Findings”. During this report, we will discuss the plan of care Dr. Hebert feels will benefit you most. You're specific situation will determine the number of visits Dr. Hebert feels will be needed to restore your vertebrae to normal position and proper functioning. Once this occurs, Dr. Hebert will discuss a maintenance plan that will keep you healthy and prevent problems in the future. A maintenance plan will vary, but in most cases, Dr. Hebert will suggest a “wellness” or maintenance visit every one to three months, depending on your situation. REMEMBER …the end result is optimal health and preventing future problems…Compare maintenance care to your routine dental exams. Why do you visit your dentist every six months for a cleaning? To avoid cavities and tooth decay, right? Same principle.

How long will the visit take?
Exam times vary, but in most cases you can expect a complete exam and consultation to take less than one half hour. After the exam, you will most likely receive some theraphy (on average 8-10 minutes each); then proceed to your adjustment. The total visit is normally one hour.

Should I let my medical doctor know I'm considering Chiropractic Care?
There should be no reason not to make your medical doctor aware that you are seeking chiropractic care. Sometimes you may even be required to obtain a “referral” from your primary care physician if you plan to see a chiropractor or any other specialist. If you have medical insurance, you may want to contact our office, so we can verify your coverages with your insurance carrier. It is important however, to make sure that Dr. Hebert is aware of your complete health history and any medications you are currently taking for any medical conditions.

Do you need my medical records?
It is not necessary to have your medical records with you when you visit us for the first time. If we have a need to see medical records, he will let you know after the initial consultation and examination. It is important, though, to complete the health history form you will be given and to make Dr. Hebert aware of any medications you are taking and any chronic medical condition you are being treated for if this pertains.

Is it safe to see a chiropractor if I am pregnant?
Not only is chiropractic care safe for a pregnant woman, in some cases it can actually alleviate the headaches, nausea, back pain and leg pain which are common during pregnancy. Our adjusting tables are designed with a “drop pelvic piece” designed specifically for pregnant women. We care for many expectant mothers at all stages of their pregnancy. The severity of your problem will determine the plan of care. Even if there is not a problem, it is a good idea to receive chiropractic care during pregnancy to help your body be more flexible at the time of your delivery.

Should I go to a chiropractor if I feel fine?
The best time to go to a chiropractor can be when you feel fine. IN that case, Dr. Hebert will recommend a preventative spinal care program. Chiropractic care can help your body to maintain its healthy state, and regular spinal checkups can help and prevent spinal stress due to subluxations.

Is chiropractic care recommended for children?
Dr. Hebert will adjust patients from pediatrics to geriatrics. Logically speaking, the birth process could cause trauma to the neck and spine, and if left uncorrected, could disturb the function of muscles and organs. In some cases, a subluxation, if left uncorrected, can lead to deformity of the spinal column.
